Hello!

I am Agnes, the owner and operator of The Montessori Nook.

Initially a lawyer and civil servant, my journey with the Montessori Method began following the birth of our son, as I sought alternative educational approaches that differed from the traditional methods I learned from my mother and aunts, which all seemed ineffective for us.

I was instantly captivated by the method.

Our home swiftly transformed into a Montessori environment. At that time, information was scarce, presenting numerous challenges and frustrations. However, these experiences enriched my comprehension of implementing Montessori principles at home. Now, I can guide others in discovering their Montessori path, sharing insights to circumvent the obstacles I once faced.

In the current landscape, there's an overwhelming amount of information on Montessori, which can be more daunting than a lack of it. It's easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain about where to begin, what to read, how to proceed correctly, or how to manage the costs. With over a decade of experience, I offer my support.

Over the past 13 years, I've broadened my expertise: I've read every book penned by Dr. Montessori, or numerous others written about her and her methodology, participated in countless workshops, online courses, and conferences; and also earned my qualification as a Montessori guide.

Having homeschooled our two children through kindergarten and elementary school (and tutoring several others during the COVID pandemic), I possess extensive experience in adapting the Montessori Method, originally designed for large groups of children, to the home and small group environments.

For over eight years, I have served as one of three administrators and the principal content creator for the Hungarian-speaking "Montessori Pedagogia - A Kezdetektol" (Montessori Pedagogy - From the Beginning) Facebook group, which boasts over 21.6K members and continues to grow, aiding thousands of parents in applying Montessori principles at home. During this time, I've also started a small (but growing) online shop, where I'm selling the Montessori (and Montessori-inspired) printables I've created.

I am fluent in English, German, and Hungarian, have basic conversational skills in Romanian and I am steadily improving my Portuguese (although that remains a work in progress).

In my free time, I love to take long strolls along the shore or deep in the forests of Sao Miguel. Or to sit with a cup of tea, while reading, crocheting or drawing.

The Montessori Nook is ... exactly that. A small, cozy, home-based Montessori tutoring place filled with love in Sao Roque (Ponta Delgada, Azores).

It might be only a "nook", but it has every Montessori Material for the 3-6 age group and is also equipped to cater for the needs of the 6-12 child.
